Before & After Content: The Posts That Actually Win Tradesmen Jobs
Before & after posts out-perform everything else for trades. Here's the formula — what to shoot, how to caption it and where to post it.
Why Before & Afters Beat Everything Else

1. Wide before — whole room or area, no tidying 2. Detail before — the worst bit (cracked tile, leaking pipe, dead lawn) 3. Wide after — same angle as shot 1, after you've finished 4. Detail after — same angle as shot 2

How To Post Them
You've got three strong options:
- Carousel post (best for Instagram & Facebook) — slide 1 is "before", slide 2 is "after". The scroll itself is the dopamine hit.
- Split image (best for shares) — before on the left, after on the right, single image. Easiest to screenshot and send to a mate.
- Reel / TikTok reveal — 5 seconds of before footage, swipe-up transition, 5 seconds of after. These regularly get 10x the reach of static posts.
Captions That Convert
Skip "Another one done 👌". Use this structure:
> Job: [what you did] > Where: [town — for local SEO] > The problem: [what was wrong] > What we did: [1–2 lines, no jargon] > Want yours sorted? [call to action + phone or link]
Example:

What To Avoid
- Cluttered backgrounds in the "before" — don't tidy, just frame it well
- Different angles between before and after (kills the comparison)
- Overly filtered "after" shots — homeowners want to see real work
- Forgetting the location — half the SEO value is in the town name
